In the framework of the technical assistance of the FR Germany to the institutions in the Republic of Serbia in the field of quality infrastructure, organized by the National Metrology Institute (NMI) of Germany, Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt (РТВ), and in collaboration with the Physico Techical Testing Service (PTP) within the NMI of Austria, Bundesamt für Eich- und Vermessungswesen (BEV), from November 17 to 21, 2014, representatives of the Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals, Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia and the Accreditation Body of Serbia were in the study visit to the National Metrology Institute of Austria (BEV).

Study visit entitled „Implementation of MID and NAWID – New Legislative Framework” included a visit to a notified body BEV, presentations and discussions related to the establishment and implementation of MID and NAWID, discussion of modules B, D, F and G, as well as visit to laboratories for flow, mass, electrical quantities and taximeters.

To establish a harmonized and consistent approach to legal metrology in Europe, WELMEC guides were particularly emphasized. Accented were impartiality and independence of all bodies in function of legal metrology. Importance of introducing a system of certification of products to show on the market that the supplier is able to produce products, which are in compliance with the certain normative documents.

Within conducted study visit were exchanged experiences in the implementation of directives and standards in the field of metrology. To successful cooperation between representatives of BEV and DMDM contributed the high level of knowledge of current topics of training and interactive work of participants.
