About the sector

Activities and tasks 

The supervision and control sector is performing tasks related to:

  • participation in the preparation of professional bases for drafting regulations in the field of legal metrology and precious metals;
  • supervision over the application and implementation of the Law on metrology and other regulations in the field of metrology;
  • supervision over the use of legal units of measurement; metrological supervision, including supervision of pre-packaged products, as well as supervision of the professional work of authorized personnel;
  • testing quantities in pre-packaged products;
  • certification or review of measuring instruments for which there are no employees authorized to verify those instruments;
  • keeping records and registers of measures that are subjected to legal control;
  • providing metrological information within the scope of the Sector that is of public interest;
  • representation of the Republic of Serbia in international and regional metrological organizations and establishment of cooperation with international and European organizations and institutions of other countries for metrology in the field of legal metrology;
  • cooperation with other institutions, economic entities, and public services in the field of metrology;
  • conducting metrological expertise;
  • supervision over the application and implementation of the Law on control of precious metal articles and other regulations in the field of precious metals;
  • testing the composition and fineness of test needles made of precious metals;
  • determining the fulfillment of conditions for obtaining the mark of a manufacturer, importer, or representative of precious metal articles and making a decision on the mark of a manufacturer, importer, or representative of precious metal articles;
  • testing the composition and fineness of precious metal articles and performing analyzes of alloys from which precious metal articles are made;
  • supervising if manufacturers, importers, or representatives of precious metal articles (who have been prescribed a decision on the mark of the manufacturer, importer, or representative) are maintaining the agreeable conditions; supervision over the work of authorized personnel;
  • preparation of data for the Register of authorized personnel, keeping records and registers on the inspection of precious metal articles, as well as other activities in this field.
