About units of measurements

A legal unit of measurement is a unit whose use is prescribed by the Decree on certain legal units of measurement and the manner of their use  ("Official Gazette of RS",132/2021)

The legal units of measurement in the Republic of Serbia are:

1. units of measurement of the International System of Units (SI), basic and derived units,
2. decimal products and parts of units (SI),
3. other units listed in the Regulation,
4. combined units of measurement.  

The rules for the use and writing of units of measurement and physical quantities are issued by the metrology Law ("Official Gazette of RS", 15/2016) and Decree on certain legal units of measurement and the manner of their use ("Official Gazette of RS", 132/2021) and documented in the standards SRPS ISO 31 and SRPS ISO 1000.
