Notice of initiation of proceedings interlaboratory comparison (PT scheme) in the field of density

Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals (DMDM), the Group for metrology in chemistry, plans in the future to organize interlaboratory comparison in the field of density as follows:

1. Calibration of measuring instruments for density of liquids

All interested laboratories from the country and region that want to participate in the aforementioned comparison, PT-scheme, can submit their request / application formally to address the Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals, 11000 Belgrade, Mike Alasa 14, Republic of Serbia, at the latest by 18 May 2018 year.

Participating laboratories will bear the costs of interlaboratory comparison and the costs of transporting objects of calibration. Laboratories are required to provide the transportation to the next participating laboratory, in accordance with the comparison technical protocol.

Costs to be paid on account of DMDM for comparison purposes will amount to 28.000,00 RSD.

DMDM, as a pilot laboratory, after collecting applications, will submit a technical protocol to all participants in the comparison.

Depending on the number of interested laboratories, DMDM will subsequently determine the start date for the above activities..

New definitions of scientific units in 2018

On Friday, 20 October, the 106th meeting of the International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM) submitted a resolution recommending the redefinition of four base units (the kilogram, the ampere, the kelvin and the mole) of the International System of Units (SI) based on exact values of four fundamental constants. These recommendations will then go before the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM), which oversees the SI, for final worldwide agreement in November 2018. The changes would take effect on 20 May 2019, World Metrology Day.

“The decision by the CIPM to propose a resolution to the 26th CGPM on the redefinition of base units in the SI brings the vision of an International System of Units based on invariant constants of nature one step closer to realization. In taking this decision, the CIPM acknowledges the outstanding contributions by many metrologists and the commitments of their institutes to undertake the long-term experiments necessary to make this decision possible.” Dr Barry Inglis, President of the CIPM

„The Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals – DMDM as representative of the Republic of Serbia in all this international bodies, recognized extraordinary importance of decision to redefine the base SI units and thereby establish connection of all measurements with invariant natural constants“

Mr. Čedomir Belić, Acting Director of DMDM

Mr. Čedomir Belić awarded „National Аward for Quality Improvment“

Under the slogan: “Quality for Results” in the Congress room of Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry on November 23rd and 24th the Fourteenth European Quality Week was held. It was organized by United Association of Serbia for Quality (UASQ) and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The Conference was chaired by Mr. Dr Vidosav Majstorović, PhD, UASQ Chairmen; Mr. Čedomir Belić, Acditng Director of Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals; Mr. Milivoje Miletić, Acting Director of Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mr. Milovan Luković, „Sloboda Čačak“ company.

After he opened the event and welcomed participants Mr. Dr Vidosav Majstorović, PhD held introduction speech, presenting importance of European Quality Week as well as actual topics with whom the Quality as global term is faced with.

Then followed introduction speeches of other chairpersons, among whom Mr. Čedomir Belić welcomed present and thanked the organizers for successfully organized European Quality Week. He also pointed out importance that Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals, has as leading Metrology institution and one of the Quality infrastructure pillars task to ensure appropriate Measuring infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia and show by personal example that Metrology has significant importance for scientific and technical – technological progress for each national economy.
