   About us > Structure > Metrology development secto > Section for dimensional, optical quantities and acoustics
The Section for dimensional, optical quantities and acoustics is responsible and take care for the practical realization of two among seven basic SI units: the unit of length – metre and the unit of luminous intensity - candela. Under the responsibility of this Group is also the realization of national standards of sound pressure (acoustical quantities). Within European Association of National Metrology Institutes - ЕURАМЕТ this group operates through the participation in the activities of the Technical Committee for Length (TC-L), Technical Committee for Acoustics, Ultrasound and Vibration (TC-AUV) and technical Committee for Photometry and Radiometry (TV-PR).
Tasks and Activities
Activities and tasks of this Section consist of research and development work, as well as broad spectra of different calibration and testing activities in the field of dimensional and optical metrology and acoustics. All measurement tasks and activities are fully covered by quality management system.
  • Laboratory for dimensional quantities;
  • Laboratory for photometry;
  • Laboratory for radiometry;
  • Laboratory for colorimetry;
